If you would like to learn the basics of pottery or want to refresh your existing knowledge, this course is for you!
This course includes four classes over four consecutive weeks. It is aimed at complete beginners or those with some basic knowledge of ceramics. Under the guidance of your experienced tutor, you will focus on throwing on the potter’s wheel, pulling handles, turning, glazing, decorating and firing.
All the requisite tools and materials you need are provided for you during each session, and your tutor will be on hand throughout to provide tips and guidance to make sure you’re heading in the right direction.
By the end of the course, everyone will have created finished pieces to take home with them.
Pottery is all about practising, so upon finishing this course you can come back and practise at my studio for a £10/hour price, or you can rent my portable potter’s wheel for £30/week.
Please note that our four-week courses start on mutually agreed dates. So, if you can’t find a public date, you can also apply by requesting a private class.
Knowledge required
Beginner-friendly and suitable for children aged six and above. Please note that children must have an adult present. If your children will learn pottery and you will be there to supervise, you only need to purchase one ticket. Please always mention at booking if it’s for your child.

Please note:
It is easier to do pottery with shorter nails because you need to use your fingertips in the process. If possible, please arrive with shorter nails so you can use your fingertips fully. Thank you!
After the first session, subsequent sessions can be arranged with the teacher, at a time that suits you.
Suitable for
This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a dates, team building activity or hen do.
Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 6 years old).
An adult must accompany any attending kids. The adult may observe at the class for free.

How to get there
Situated conveniently close to New Cross Gate Station, it’s just a brief 7-minute train ride from London Bridge. Once you arrive at the station, after a light walk keep an eye out for The Rosemary restaurant, where the pottery studio is located.
