Upon opening the kiln, the Raku-glazed petite brooches and we carefully place miniature bowls within a container filled with natural compounds. The Raku glaze’s copper and cobalt oxides interact with these compounds, giving birth to unforeseen shades and intricate patterns. The oxygen also influences the transformation.
Following this, the ‘mini’ creations are submerged in cold water, creating a striking thermal contrast. This captivating phenomenon gives rise to alluring cracks, vibrant pigments, and a distinctive smoky finish to Raku pottery.
